The font size of menu items might change, thus requiring the size to
be updated. So it is not correct to mark the items as fixed size.

Clicking on a menu can result in selecting an item. If it is a popup
menu then the item should be closed. Add support for this.

To implement mouse clicks we need a way to figure out what the user has
clicked on. As a starting point, create a scene_menu_within() function
which returns the item containing an x, y coordinate.
Provide a helper function in scene.c for use with this. Add a simple
for completeness.

The bootflow menu creates an image at position -4, expecting that it
will be relative to the right side of the display.
With the recently added alignment feature, this is not supported. Update
the implementation to calculation the correct position instead. Update
the tests to match.

Insets are handled inconsistently at present, since menus use them to
offset the label text, whereas textlines don't. This is done because
menus need the margin to be visible when opened. However this causes an
alignment issue when menus and textlines appear in the same cedit.
Remove the offsets from menus and compensate by adjusting the bounding
boxes used for highlighting and the opened menu.
Line up menu items and textlines vertically and add a style option for
textlines to control how much padding is added.
Add a test to check the positions of objects in a cedit, since this is
more direct than the rendering tests. Add style information so that the
impact can be seen.

With fixed coordinates it is difficult to create scenes that can work on
any display size. Add a separate 'requested' bounding box for each
object and sync it when required.
With future work, this will allow scaling the nominal coordinates so
that an expo can be rendered correctly on a wider range of displays.

Rather than hard-coding the distance between the labels and the key,
measure the width of the pointer to determine the space needed.
Tweak a few tests according. It isn't possible to get the same result
when the font-size differs.

At present the components of each menu item are set at fixed positions.
Use an 'x' variable instead, so that we can eventually move to taking
account of the actual dimensions of the items.

A menu's dimensions are currently only used for positioning the
component parts of the menu, i.e. the label, key, description and
preview.
Move the logic for this entirely into the scene_menu file and drop the
logic at the top level.

Rather than drawing the poointer with a hard-coded position elsewhere in
the code, add a field to hold this value.
Move the check for the pointer position up so that the ordering of the
tests matches the order that the fields are dealt with in
scene_menu_arrange()

highlighting as well, since this makes it easier for the user to see the

In some cases it is useful to obtain more than just two bounding boxes
from a menu, e.g. to line up all descriptions vertically.
Use an array to obtain bounding-box information and calculate it
separately for each item.

At present each object has a width and height and the bounding box is
implicit in that.
This is not flexible enough to handle objects which are larger than
their contents might need. For example, when centring a text object we
might want to have it stretch across the whole width of the display even
if the text itself does not need that much space.
Create a new 'dimensions' field and convert the existing width/height
into x1/y1 coordinates.

At present we assume that each object is a simple box and that it fills
the whole box.
This is quite limiting for text objects, which we may want to centre
within the box. We need a position within the box where drawing starts.
Rename the scene_dim struct to indicate that it is a bounding box.

At present when the user moves to a new menu item, the menu code
handles this immediately. This means it is not possible to use an expo
action to effect the same change.
Update this so that EXPOACT_POINT_ITEM is handled in cedit_do_action().
Expand the test to cover this.

Add functions to allow a caller to find out the current menu item and to
select a different one.
Update the event handling so that an attempt to change the current item
(e.g. by pressing the up-arrow key) is reported to the caller, since
this may be used to cancel an autoboot timeout.

At present menu items are stored according to their sequence number in
the menu. In some cases we may want to have holes in that sequence, or
not use a sequence at all.
Add a new 'value' property for menu items. This will be used for
reading and writing, if present. If there is no 'value' property, then
the normal sequence number will be used instead.

At present a fixed position is used for menu items, 200 pixels to the
right of the left side of the labels. This means that a menu item with
a very long label may overlap the items.
It seems better to calculate the maximum label width and then place the
items to the right of all of them.
To implement this, add a new struct to containing arrangement
information. Calculate it before doing the actual arrangement. Add a
new style item which sets the amount of space from the right side of
the labels to left side of the items.

definition to indicate which registers and bits are used.

This should be allocating the memory for "item" instead of "menu".
The item struct is 48 bytes instead of 96 (assuming a 64bit system)
so this saves a little memory.

It looks better if menus have a bit of an inset, rather than be drawn hard
up against the background. Also, menu items look better if they have a bit
of spacing between them.
Add theme options for these and implement the required changes.

In 'popup' mode, the expo allows moving around the objects in a scene.
When 'enter' is pressed on a menu, it opens and the user can move around
the items in the menu.
Implement this using keypress handles and actions.

When a menu is opened, it must be displayed over all other objects in
the scene, so that all its items are visible.
Handle this by drawing the menu object a second time, after all other
objects have been drawn. Draw all of the objects which are dependent
on the menu object.

When a popup menu is closed it shows only the selected item. When it is
open it shows a background and all items, with a highlight that can be
moved between the items.

At present we only support a single menu, so all that can be pointed to
is the current menu item. Rename this action so that we can also add
an action for pointing to an object. This will allow cycling through
the objects in a scene.

At present only a single menu is supported. All items are shown and a
pointer object points to the current item.
Add support for multiple menus, one of which is highlighted, indicated
by the highlight_id property in the scene.
The highlighted menu item has a SCENEOF_POINT flag, indicating that it
is currently pointed to.
The popup menu is normally closed, in which case it shows only the
current menu item. When it is opened, it shows all items, allowing the
user to select one.
Rather than requiring the menu item to have a description, require it to
have a label. Use the label (only) for the popup menu.
With this, most of the drawing and layout logic is complete.

The current implementation supports a 'pointer' object which points to
the currently highlighted menu item. We want to support highlighting the
label of the menu item instead, e.g. with inverse video. In this case we
will need to 'unhighlight' the old item and highlight the new one.
As a first step, move the pointer logic into a function. This fixes a
bug where the item is hidden when it should not be.

Provide a way to set the full dimensions of objects, i.e. including the
width and height.
For menus, calculate the bounding box of all objects in the menu. Set all
labels to be the same size, so that highlighting works correct, once
implemented.

At present objects only have a position so it is not possible to determine
the amount of space they take up on the display.
Add width and height properties, using a struct to keep all the dimensions
together.
For now this is not used. Future work will set up these new properties.
